It contained many of the important inscriptions as well as some I hadn't noticed before. A personal favorite being the monument to Honorius and Arcadia in the Forum which had Stilicho's name crossed out after he was executed. I would've totally missed that weathered marb|||This book is wonderful. My head is full of information I didn't know about Rome, despite my many years there. Lansford's evocative depictions of monuments, cityscape, and memorable humans have inspired me anew with the fascination of Rome. (Mary T. Boatwright
