I much prefer the "Hearings of the US Senate on Affairs in the Philippine Islands" of 1902, which has verbatim testimony of the people who are only referred to in May's book. However, the "Hearings" are over a thousand pages long and not suitable for the casual reader, and May's books are the best for the casual reader.
